Victim ID’d in Fatal Shooting Outside Coon Rapids Bar

KSTP TV A 29 year old Fridley man is dead and a suspect is in jail after a shooting outside of a Coon Rapids bar early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened after a poker game inside Willy’s Bar and Grill, located at 2501 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW. An altercation in the parking lot led up to the shooting, police said.

This past Wednesday night he decided to bring along his nephew, 29 year old Rayontra McCall. He says McCall hadn’t been going out because he has a toddler.

“He spends all his time with his kids, idreddit.com ” he said.

But this time it was Haynes, his son and McCall at the poker table. He says things were going well and he was wining. Haynes says he noticed a man who was holding back chips and he said something to him. The man, 44 year old Chad Nelson denied it, and they had words but it didn’t go any further.

Haynes says when the game was over he ended up in second place and won $50. He collected his cash and all three left. He says Nelson followed them out into the parking lot.

Again words were exchanged between the two.

“We turn to walk away and the next thing I know there’s two shots. I turn and look and the man shoots again. And Ray starts walking and doesn’t realize he’s been shot and he turns he just falls to the ground, scannable fake id ” he said.
